In Dersu the Trapper Arseniev gives an account of his travels in the Ussuri region the the Russian Far Eastern Siberia in the early 1900s. It is a wildneeness filled with creatures and tribes that make our Wild West tame. Most of the narrative is woven around the character Dersu Uzala, a native Goldi of the region who becomes the author's guide, counselor and friend during these expeditions. These recordings have been extracted from tape and is unabridged in English. Entire reading of book is almost 12 hours long.

A great adventure, true memoir, Reader has pleasant and relaxing male voice told with such clarity that you believe it is Arsenyev himself speaking to you. You feel as though you are right there in camp with him and Dersu. You will love this book/audio! I would like to know if this reader has contributed any additional books, if so what are they as I would like to hear them too.

This is an audio of the book translated by Malcolm Burr. The only English translation available. It was printed by Recovered Classics and you'll have to buy the book.

It appears this is the only copy of V.K. Arseniev's great novel on archive.org, but it's available in audio only? Why no text? What exactly did they read from to create this? Can't I simply read a book anymore, or am I just some technological lizard in an ipod world?
